THE Young Riders Fund’s very own YRF Junior, Charlie Atkins has been scouted to ride for Scott Redding’s first ever Young Riders Racing Team.

Charlie has had an impressive second season in the FAB Racing British Minimoto Championship, only dropping out of the overall top three once throughout the whole season in the Junior 4.2 class. The youngster from Goole, East Yorkshire has a bright future in racing ahead of him and this is the first step on the ladder. The Scott Redding Young Riders Racing Team will consist of four riders split in to two classes, the ‘Novice’ Riders Blake Ansall and Jack Lyall will be the Junior 4.2 entry whilst the ‘Experienced’ riders Charlie Atkins and Max Cook will be the Junior Production entry for the 2013 Calendar.

Scott Redding himself started off his career in exactly the same Championship organised by FAB Racing. The series helped him develop his skills that would eventually land him a rides in the MotoGP Academy Cup, 125cc CEV Championship, 125cc Grand Prix World Championship, where he became the youngest ever winner of a World Championship Grand Prix at the age of 15 (on home turf), and eventually on to the Moto2 World Championship where he now races for the Marc VDS Racing Team. Scott has never forgot his roots and regularly returns to the FAB Racing Championship to compete at the occasional round, the 19-year-old added “I wouldn’t have been able to get to the Grand Prix paddock without mini-moto, so it’s helped my career a lot and I want the kids in my academy to benefit in the same way”

We at the Young Riders Fund are certain Charlie will follow in similar footsteps to the GP star and are happy to play a small part in the youngster’s early career.
