THE 2013 season is finally over for YRF Junior Charlie Atkins and it really couldn’t have finished any NMRCC R1 2013better.

The Racer from Goole, East Yorkshire won the FAB-Racing British Junior Production Minimoto Championship aboard the Scott Redding/ Minimoto Racing machine.

Taking the lead of the Championship from round six at his home track of Whilton Mill, Charlie maintained a healthy gap in points over Max Cook. Nothing was easy to the youngster in the closing rounds, but a rider’s mentality took over and he did what was needed to take the points at the end of the day.

Charlie has come on a lot as a racer in this past season, he and his family have put in a lot of hard work and practise. His GP style and speed instantly makes you take note of him in a race and all this hard work has paid off.

BHjyFxiCYAA3_34The Junior Production Championship isn’t Charlie’s only accolade for 2013 he also took third in the MiniGP 50 class on the larger 2 stroke 50cc machines.

The MiniGP 50 class is one that Charlie has really got to grips with since his rookie season of 2012, where he finished eighth overall. The pint sized youngster mastered his machine and really came out fighting from the very first round.

This season has set him up nicely for 2014 where he will be racing in a new very exciting series, MiniGP UK.

MiniGP UK is a one make series for youngsters aged between nine and fifteen, using the 4 stroke IMR GP Racing machine. The final details of the series are being ironed out so keep an eye on their website www.minigpuk.co.uk
