THE final round of the 2014 National Minimoto Road Racing Championship was held at Lydd, Kent. This was a fantastic close to the season for the Alderson family. The following race report comes straight from Stephen Alderson
“This would be the last round of the NMRRC and James loves this track, James couldn’t wait to get going. After a long drive we finally got their on the Friday evening, on the Saturday morning we did some final checks to the bikes and we were ready for the practice on the Saturday afternoon, practise session went very well with no problems.
Qualifying sessions, first out was the junior production and James looked impressive and put in some very fast lap times, he put the bike on pole but he was complaining he couldn’t get full throttle and the bike was spluttering, after some checks we found the front pipe had split, with not much time we changed the exhaust and adjusted the clutch. Next out was the Junior Gearbox and again James looked quick and put the bike on pole.
Race one and two in the Junior production James got cracking starts and went into the lead by the second corner, he took control and kept increasing his lead by every lap, he took two comfortable wins and was miles in front, he was loving it.
Race one and two in the Junior Gearbox, he got a good start and was away in second place but by the end of the first lap was in the lead, every lap the lead got bigger and you could see James loved the track, Race two was a carbon copy and he took two comfortable wins.
This has been a fantastic season for James, the Gearbox bike was his first time racing and was a bit of a tester to see how he came on, we never expected him to win also the Junior production has been an exciting season as it went down to the last race and we were conscious of points, James needed to finish in the top five, he said to my Dad “I am just going to race what will be will be” and he didn’t disappoint winning the Championship in both events has been incredible and his Mum and I are very proud of him.
We would like to thank our sponsors NGK, YRF, EC 1 Drinks and Forte for all their help, also to thank Family, Friends, Bikewise, McIntosh Mini Bikes, DM and CS racing for their support.
Thanks to Alan and Martin from NMRRC for a brilliant Championship.”
