YRF Enduro duo Cristina Palmer and Jack Hughes lined up together once again this past weekend, in the third round of the SBEC Hare and Hounds championship at Tyninghame Links.
Before race day however, the two youngsters were lucky enough to take part in a training event with St. Blazey MX rider Jane Daniels and Edmondson Racing Beta UK rider Joel Gowan. The two world class riders worked with the youngsters through the day on their technical riding and speed. “I was well impressed with Cristina” said Jane “I’d never seen her ride before, anything you say to her she just says ‘OK’ and then tries it no fears or anything.”
“Young Jack REALLY enjoyed himself” added Joel “You could see him improving every hour with a massive smile on his face as he was riding around.”
The two young racers were quick to take everything they had learned the previous day and apply it during their race.
Jack, aboard the YRF – Race 2 off-road KTM got a solid start in the 65cc class and tackled the course hard. The young North Eastern racer put everything in to keep it going to the flag in the hour and a half long race. “It was really good” added Jack “I was unsure in the flat bit at the start as I’ve never really rode in the sand, but I’m happy with the race. And I got third!”
Cristina also got a fantastic start aboard the YRF KTM 65 and maintained impressive lap times. “I really enjoyed it” added the young lady racer “It was really slippy over the back and I got in to a really good race with one of the bigger bikes swapping places.” Cristina, from Innerwick, East Lothian took the win for the 65cc class.
The two will head south for the second round of the Motul Endurotek NE-XC Championship at Masham this coming weekend, head to www.xcenduro.com for more details.
