Alderson Struggles To Find Pace

JAMES Alderson headed to Oulton Park this past weekend for round nine of the Hel Performance Motostar Moto3 Standard Championship.

Many teams had visited the circuit already in 2016 for round two, so the north eastern youngster had his work cut out.

Practice sessions went well, James’ starting lap times were 1.59 but managed to get down to 1.55. A few alterations were made to the gearing for the second session which the youngster said felt better, unfortunately the exhaust came loose during the first session.

Qualifying One was wet and the times were not going to be as quick as the practise sessions so James concentrated on learning the track. Qualifying two was dry and James manged to get his lap times down to 1.54 but this wasn’t enough and qualified twelfth overall.

For the race adjustments were made with the bike as James was struggling with the circuit and losing time in the corners. The youngster got a good start but couldn’t keep up with the fast race pace and dropped back in each lap finishing tenth overall, but did manage to better his lap time with a 1.53 lap.

“The race pace was fast” said James “I struggled with the circuit compared to the rest, I did check the times from the previous round at Oulton and my times weren’t too far away but they were much quicker this time, we had data for this round which did help to see where I could improve. Thank you to my Pit Crew Mum and Dad and to my sponsors NGK, EC1, YRF, LS2, Burnell Fencing, Wiz Racing, Vroom Media, Custom Coachworks, Morson Photography, Forte, Ohlins, Brembo, R Alderson and Sons, Daytona and to Bikewise, Family and Friends for your continued support.
