JAMES Alderson competed in the tenth round of the Hel Performance Motostar Standard Championship this past weekend at Donington Park.
James has been steadily improving after his late start to the season, but this proved to be his most successful outing yet.
The North Eastern Teenager had been eager to race at the legendary East Midlands circuit, like many of his heroes before.
James set his sights of running mid-pack this weekend, and that isn’t a task to be taken lightly in this category. His modest goals were achievable and a necessary part of his development.
A huge chunk of the field failed to qualify during free practice due to the wet conditions. Qualifying was an improvement with Alderson securing twelfth in the Standard class.
Race one got under way but was interrupted for the first time this season by the safety car, once racing resumed James crossed the line in tenth.
Race two saw the youngster battling it out in a group of four. James has worked on mastering the ‘slip stream’ since coming to this class and this was evident during the race. The battle went down to the line and James only slightly missed out on eighth place finishing ninth.
“I had a good weekend at Donnington” said James “I really enjoyed riding the track, we made some adjustments to the bike and each session my lap times were coming down. Thank you to my Pit Crew Mum and Dad and to my sponsors NGK, EC1, YRF, LS2, Burnell Fencing, Wiz Racing, Vroom Media, Custom Coachworks, Morson Photography, Forte, Ohlins, Brembo, R Alderson and Sons, Daytona and to Bikewise, Family and Friends for your continued support.”
